Three people have been arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire at a derelict building in Burslem this afternoon (Friday 2 October).
Staffordshire Police said officers were called to Newcastle Street at 2.40pm following reports of a fire.
A 42-year-old woman, of no fixed address, has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.
A 38-year-old man, of Stoke-on-Trent, and a 42-year-old man, of no fixed address, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted arson with intent to endanger life.
All three remain in custody for questioning, police said.
Officers remain at the scene alongside Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
The fire service said four fire engines were sent to the derelict building, and Newcastle Street has been closed between Blake Street and Woodbank Street. People are being asked to avoid the area, and anyone living nearby should keep their windows and doors closed.
