More Than 140 Staffordshire And Stoke-on-Trent NHS Commissioning Jobs Go In ICB Redundancies

More than 140 staff are leaving NHS Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board (ICB) through redundancy, as integrated care boards across the country are told to cut their running costs.

The ICB has confirmed that 134 staff are leaving through voluntary redundancy and that 11 compulsory redundancies have been confirmed so far.

The ICB works as a cluster with NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin ICB under chief executive Simon Whitehouse. Across the cluster, more than 200 staff are leaving.

In Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, 87 staff are leaving through voluntary redundancy and four compulsory redundancies have been confirmed.

The cluster is working to a 45% reduction in running costs, according to Healthcare Leader, which quoted a cluster spokesperson.

An ICB spokesperson said: "The voluntary redundancy process is now complete, and we have already said goodbye to a number of valued colleagues."

The spokesperson added: "Voluntary redundancy has helped reduce the need for compulsory redundancies, but at this stage, we cannot confirm whether further compulsory redundancies will be required or what the final cost of the process will be."

The ICB said wider organisational change is still ongoing.

Mr Whitehouse said: "Throughout this process, our priority has been to support colleagues with openness, fairness and compassion, while retaining valuable skills and experience wherever possible."

The ICB's board was due to meet in Stafford on Thursday 24 September. Papers for the meeting had not been published when the ICB's board meetings page was checked.
