A school uniform shop in Hanley appears to have closed its doors for good, leaving some parents worried about orders they have already paid for.
A notice on the door of National Schoolwear Centres, at 99-101 Stafford Street, reads: "This shop has closed and has ceased trading with immediate effect."
Some parents have said online that they are still waiting for uniform they have already paid for.
One parent said their child's school had contacted families and was working with the store to try to get hold of outstanding paid-for items.
It is not yet clear what arrangements are being made for all outstanding orders.
What can parents do?
Customers who paid by debit or credit card may be able to ask their bank for a refund through the chargeback scheme. Those who paid by credit card for items costing between £100 and £30,000 may also be able to claim from their card provider under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act. Parents should keep receipts and order confirmations, and check with their child's school for updates.
