Parents walking to and from Seabridge Primary School are being warned about what appears to be a very active wasp nest in a hedge on Sherborne Drive, after a mum was stung on the school run.

The local parent, who did not want to be named, said she was swarmed by a large number of wasps as she walked past the hedge close to the school, and was stung the following day while walking past to collect her daughter.

"Just a warning for anyone walking to and from Seabridge Primary School via Sherborne Drive," she said. "There appears to be a very active wasp nest in the hedge close to the school.

"Yesterday I was swarmed by a large number of wasps when I walked past, and today I was actually stung while walking past to collect my daughter."

Families using that route are advised to take care, keep children away from the hedge, and avoid disturbing the nest.

Anyone who has a severe reaction to a sting, such as swelling of the face or mouth or difficulty breathing, should call 999.
