Stoke-on-Trent set for a late September warm spell before weather takes a turn

Residents across Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme could be forgiven for thinking summer has made a late return, with temperatures set to climb into the low 20s this week.

Forecasts for Stoke-on-Trent show temperatures reaching around 23°C today (Tuesday 22 September), with sunny spells and relatively dry conditions expected through much of the day. The warm weather comes as high pressure brings more settled conditions across much of the UK.

But the warmer conditions are not expected to last. Temperatures are forecast to fall to around 17°C on Wednesday, with showers possible during the morning before brighter conditions develop later in the day.

The Met Office is also forecasting a return to around 20°C on Thursday, with sunny conditions expected in Stoke-on-Trent.

For many people across North Staffordshire, it could mean making the most of today's warmer weather before more typical late-September conditions return.

The change also highlights just how quickly the weather can shift as we move further into autumn.
