Update: Five Candidates Confirmed For Newcastle Town Ward By-Election On 8 October

Five candidates are standing in the Town ward by-election for a seat on Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council, which takes place on Thursday 8 October.

The by-election was called after Cllr Christine Duffy stood down in August, as Six Towns Daily previously reported.

The candidates, as published by the borough council, are:

Conna Douglas Eynon, of Gloucester Grange, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Conservative Party

Andrew Fox-Hewitt, of Newcastle-under-Lyme, Labour & Co-operative Party

Adam Griffiths, of Newcastle-under-Lyme, Reform UK

Morgan Inwood, of Mount Pleasant, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Liberal Democrats

Mark Allan Jones, of Newcastle-under-Lyme, Green Party

Polling stations will close at 10pm, and votes will be counted shortly afterwards, the council said.

Everyone voting at a polling station will need to show an accepted form of photo ID.

The other councillor for Town ward, Sheelagh Casey-Hulme, is not affected and continues in her role.

There are 44 seats on the borough council. With the Town ward seat vacant, Reform UK has 26 seats, the Conservatives 15 and Labour two, according to the council.
